The saucy stance of the female performer catches the eye, as well as the splashes of colour. Chahine took a strong interest in the street-life of Paris. A proof hand-coloured in green, pink and light brown chalks, inscribed lower right in pencil ‘étude – épreuve tirée par moi, Chahine’, signed in full a second time lower left.

A fine impression printed slightly off-centre on thick laid Arches paper with deckle edges and small margins. These slightly mat-burned, a pin-hole in the upper background, slight cockling, otherwise in good condition.

Rare, only a small number of impressions were printed.
