Les grands spectacles de la nature. LA VIE DE MADAME QUELCONQUE en dix tableaux lithographiés par HERMANN-PAUL.

Paris: Chez l’Artiste, 1895.

ONE OF THE UNDISPUTED MASTERPIECES OF 1890s LITHOGRAPHY, a sardonic and desultory (and yet subtly humorous) portrayal (in ten lithographs on fine Chinese paper) of the life of “Madame Whoever”, a typical woman of the Parisian bourgeoisie. Each lithograph measures 41 x 31.5 cm. They are loose, as issued, in the original lithographed folder with the series title and the title of the individual lithographs printed on the front cover, which is also numbered in pencil and SIGNED by the artist with his monogram. Housed in a custom-made cloth portfolio. A few professional marginal restorations (invisible with normal light), otherwise FINE AND BRIGHT, with no foxing, tears, or other defects.
