Takeda (b. 1948) is a master of the line which is beautifully executed in intricate detail. He is best known for his “Genpei” series of silkscreen prints which depicts warring clans of twelfth century Japan. Here is the seventeenth in the series with a Minamoto clan warrior, the clan which eventually won the Genpei war. Takeda was the first Japanese contemporary artist to have a solo exhibition at the British Museum and his works are in its permanent collection.
