“4 Stripes” is one of a series of lithographs with chine collé that the artist made in 2006 while an artist in residence at Kala Art Institute. The image was made by drawing with a sponge dipped in liquid tushe on an aluminum lithographic plate. It exemplifies Higgins’ interest in creating abstract, minimalist works made using repetition and patterns.
The image was printed on a thin kozo paper which was later mounted to a white cotton rag sheet. The image size is 16 x 16 inches and the sheet size is 20 x 20 inches.
