The original images for The Mountain – Green Flash and Wash House Rain were made from drawings made in Honshu, Japan in April 2010 whilst waiting to catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji through a rain cloud.

This special edition of Wash House Rain relates to a previous etching of the same name. Unusually for Jones, this image explores an interior space as opposed to a protective building or house, which is a recurring motif in Jones’s work. The small scale of this print lends it an intimate feel.

Artist Sales: this work is sold by the artist. The sale is facilitated by RA Enterprises (RAE) for which RAE receives a commission from the artist only.

The Artist

Katherine Jones

Katherine’s collographs and etchings depict the reoccurring motif of a house, often in a natural environment. Conflicting ideas of nurture, protection and collaboration which are prevalent in Katie’s prints, become comparable to ideas of returning or leaving the figurative or actual home. Katherine has also made two editions of artists’ books, Bubble High and High Light Bell. Since completing her MA in printmaking at Camberwell College of Art in 2003, Katherine has been awarded several prizes and residencies including, Birgit Skiold Memorial Trust Award of Excellence, for The National Art Library V&A Whitechapel Artists Book Fair 2010, Research Fellow at City and Guilds of London Art School, 2007-10, Pushing Print Award 2009 and the Northern Print Biennale Solution Group Prize 2009.
