Includes 1 woodcut on cover (Cailler 160), 1 lithograph on title-page (Cailler 161), 13 full-page hors-texte color lithographs (Cailler 162-174), and 55 tinted lithographs in the text (Cailler 175-228), including the rare “table des hors textes” not described by Cailler and usually missing from bound copies.

From a total edition of 260 numbered copies, this is one of 205 printed on fine Dutch wove paper.

Maurice Denis

Maurice Denis was a French painter, decorative artist and writer, who was an important figure in the transitional period between impressionism and modern art. He was associated with Les Nabis then the Symbolist movement, and then with a return to neo-classicism.
