Related to his celebrated Ocean Park series, Diebenkorn’s “Folsom Suite Variations” was a series of three experimental graphics in which the artist incorporated the soap ground aquatint technique to create a painterly appearance. The series was named for the location of Crown Point Press in San Francisco.
Original aquatint with drypoint, soap ground aquatint and flat bite printed in grey and black on wove paper bearing the “RIVES” block letter watermark. Hand-signed with the artist’s monogram and dated in the margin lower right RD 86.
A superb impression of the definitive state, from the edition of 35, numbered in pencil in the margin lower left (there were a few additional proofs). Published by Crown Point Press, San Francisco, bearing its blindstamp in the sheet lower right; printed by Marcia Bartholme at Crown Point Press, bearing her blindstamp in the sheet also lower right.
In excellent condition, printed on a full sheet.
