Anni was as born in 1899 in Berlin. Her mother was from an aristocratic family and her father was a furniture maker. In her childhood she painted and studied under an impressionist, she was temporarily discouraged after Oskar Kokoscka saw a portrait she had painted and said “Why do you paint?”. in 1994 she was inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame.
She worked primarily in textiles but in later on endeavoured to printmaking. Her work is often constructed of an interesting mix of traditional and industrial materials.
