Sunflowers II is a stunning etching and aquatint on Arches paper, part of the limited edition of 80 prints published in 1995. The print is numbered, signed and dated in pencil by David Hockney and co-published by Hockney and Lococo Mulder Inc., St. Louis, Missouri with Hockney’s blindstamp.

David Hockney, born in 1937, is a prolific 20th-century British artist renowned for his diverse exploration of painting, printmaking, drawing, videography, and digital art. His iconic style, marked by warmth and vibrant colors, delves into still life, portraits, landscapes, and personal themes like sexuality. In 2018, his “Portrait of an Artist” set a record, selling for $90 million.



The Artist

David Hockney

Born in Bradford England on the 9th July 1937 David Hockney was interested in art from a very early age, and was an admirer of Fragonard, Picasso and Matisse. The fifth of six children his parents encouraged his artistic experimentation. He went to the Bradford College of Art 1953-57. To fulfil his national service, he worked in hospitals as he was a conscientious objector to war. Then in 1959 he was accepted into the Royal College of Art, Graduate school in London.
