Edwin La Dell Biography

1914-1970

Edwin La Dell ARA, RBA was a well-known printmaker and painter. He was born in Rotherham, and won scholarships to Sheffield School of Art and the Royal College of Art where he studied under John Nash, and where later he became Head of Printmaking. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1950 and an Associate of the Royal Academy 1969. He was a hugely influential printmaker in particular and his work is held in many public collections, including the Tate Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Imperial War Museum, the Government Art Collection, University of Leeds, and Rotherham Museums & Art Galleries. He lived at Grafty Green in Kent. Nick Waters Art.
