Series: The Four Elements

Arty-Fact: L’œuvre d’ouverture de la série “The Quatre Elements” d’Anthea, “Air Éternel”, est ancrée dans l’alchimie, où l’Air est le souffle vital, le médiateur entre le ciel et la terre, symbolisant le flux des idées, le changement et la liberté de l’esprit. En son centre, une femme-papillon s’abandonne à une étreinte avec une silhouette dont l’identité reste intentionnellement floue, un amant, un alter ego ou un moi de l’ombre.

L’étreinte réunit deux formes, suggérant qu’elles sont les deux faces d’une même pièce. L’écriture autour de l’image forme une limite qui maintient la scène en place. Les embellissements à la feuille d’or reflètent l’alchimie en jeu, encadrant un moment de vulnérabilité.

The opening work in Anthea’s “The Four Elements” series, “Air Éternel”, is grounded in alchemy, where Air is the vital breath, the mediator between heaven and earth, symbolising the flow of ideas, change, and freedom of spirit. At its centre, a butterfly-woman surrenders to an embrace with a silhouette whose identity remains intentionally blurred, a lover, an alter ego, or a shadow self.

The embrace brings two forms together, suggesting they are two sides of the same coin. The writing around the image forms a boundary that holds the scene in place. Gold leaf embellishments reflect the alchemy at play, framing a moment of vulnerability.

“Air Éternel” has a magical, fairytale storybook quality that speaks to transformation, while also offering a more mature view of relationships, how we see others, and how we understand ourselves.
