Signed with the artist’s monogram and dated in pencil. A fine impression printed on grey paper, with wide margins. A few impressions of this image are printed on tan paper.
The medium and the nearly empty beach recall the slightly earlier woodcuts of Edvard Munch, whose motif of reflected moonlight also found echoes in prints by Laage. In the year that he made this woodcut Laage exhibited in the first exhibition of Die Brücke in Dresden. Though he reverted to painting later in life, he produced a significant body of woodcuts, some printed in colours as well as on tinted paper.
