Thomas Ruff is a photographer from Germany. He lives and works in Dusseldorf. He is one of six children and was born in the Black Forest region of Germany. Thomas Ruff is known for conceptual serial photography, and developed his own variation of this photography method after listening to the lectures of Benjamin HD Buchloh. During his time as a student, Thomas Ruff began taking photographs of the landscape in a style that was indicative of the 1950s through the 1970s.
