Untitled from The New York Collection for Stockholm
By Larry Rivers
Larry Rivers (1923–2002) was an American artist, musician, and poet often considered a precursor to Pop Art. Blending abstract expressionism with figurative painting, his work featured bold, often provocative imagery drawn from history, politics, and popular culture. Rivers challenged artistic conventions with a mix of painterly technique and collage-like compositions, creating works that were both intellectually sharp and emotionally charged. His influence helped bridge the gap between modernism and postmodern art.
