This print is part of a series of images that explore the notion of the garden as a temple; a place which is a source of sanctuary with the potential for transformation.
Chitra Merchant’s rich palette reflects the hues found in an Indian garden as well as the pigments of crimson, vermilion and saffron used as votive offerings in temples.
