On brownish laid paper. One of a 7 known impressions by the artist. Signed and dated lower right. Dated and titled by Siddi Heckel. Monogrammed in the stone.
This lithograph is extremely rare.
The title refers to a woman Heckel remembers seeing by chance on the street. The street itself is not even hinted at. The simplest impressions suffice as a pretext for design. These are further reduced by generalising titles. Even portrait-like depictions are not labelled with the name. Therefore, ‘Woman on the Street’ could well have been a person very well known to Heckel.
