"This works pays homage to my earlier lithograph Trickster Showdown (2015), which also featured a coyote and rabbit. Here the situation has reversed. Rabbit dons the tutu this time - is upside down- and Coyote is chomping down with her canine teeth on a heap of fairy wands, the roles being switched. There is now no longer a need for magical transformation; its breakage is apparent, visceral, and a dissolution of the artificial. Coyote is now "done with your fairy wands.". With the old duality chewed apart by Coyote, an acceptance of self emerges, conformities, either cultural or social, fall away within this new modality." - Julie Buffalohead, 2025
