Lincoln Center Editions commissioned Marcel Dzama to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

The print is titled, “Ya es Hora” (“It is Time”) and pays homage to the social-and political-themed etchings of the Spanish master engraver, Francisco Goya.

Dzama’s image portrays an exuberant and joyful display of figures dancing and swirling, in hues of cobalt, symbolizing a female-led revolution. The characters are inspired by Dzama’s collaboration with choreographer, Justin Peck for The New York City Ballet’s 2016 performance, The Most Incredible Thing. Dzama drew from French avant-garde artist, Francis Picabia and his 1924 Swedish production of Relâche for his polka dotted costumes.

Marcel Dzama (b. 1974 in Winnipeg, Canada). Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. His works are held in museum collections worldwide including, The Museum of Modern Art and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
