A rare, early fourth state impression of this work, after the painting at the Wallace Collection in London, with the word “Escarpolette” still misspelled as “Escarpolettes”. This impression is a fourth state of seven states (see: H. W. Lawrence & B. L. Dighton French Line Engravings of the Late XVIII Century, London, Lawrence and Jellicoe Ltd., 1910).
