Put Out All Flags, created by Robert Motherwell in 1980, is an extraordinary color etching and aquatint characterized by vibrant color, gestural marks, and a signature red-and-black palette. As a highly regarded example of Motherwell’s graphic work, it is often featured in in retrospectives of his printmaking and is in the permanent collections of any number of the finest museums worldwide. Hand-signed and numbered in pencil, the artwork measures 21 x 29 in. (53.3 x 73.7 cm), unframed, is from the edition of 50 and is noted as E. & B. 263 in the artist’s catalogue raisonne.
