Dirk Stoop was a successful painter and printmaker from Utrecht who lived at various times in Italy, Portugal, England and Germany. Many of his paintings include horses, sometimes involved in battle skirmishes, and his etchings likewise show his close observation of the species. From a set of 12 horse subjects

Watermark: Seven Provinces

A very fine, rich impression trimmed on the platemark or with thread margins. A barely-perceptable soft diagonal crease, otherwise in very good condition.
