Edition of 50 artist’s proofs in Roman numerals aside from the edition of 250 in Arabic numerals. Signed, numbered and dated ’75 in pencil lower right on verso by Warhol. To create the Ladies and Gentlemen series, Warhol took over 500 Polaroid photographs of 14 different Black and Latin American drag queens and trans women recruited by his friends, many were from the Gilded Grape, a bar on Manhattan’s 8th Avenue. The names of 13 of the 14 models were discovered by the Warhol Foundation in 2014: Alphanso Panell, Broadway, Easha McCleary, Helen/Harry Morales, Iris, Ivette, Kim, Lurdes, Marsha P. Johnson, Michele Long, Monique, Vicki Peters and Wilhelmina Ross.

Excellent condition. Presented in a handmade gold leaf frame with conservation acrylic glazing.
