This print is part of the series of 1964 prints titled:“Tōkaidō Road.” They depict scenes that the artist witnessed while traveling along the historic coastal route between Tokyo and Kyoto.
The text is an excerpt from a poem by Kusano Shimpei, a famous Japanese poet known as the “frog poet” for his frequent use of frogs in his work. He and Munakata were close collaborators.
Published by Yaskawa as part of their collaborative calendar project.
