Adja Yunkers Biography

1900-1983

Adja Yunkers studied at Leningrad Art Academy in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The Latvian artist traveled through Europe and Cuba studying and creating art until he settled in New York. There he taught at various institutions including Columbia University, Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture, and the New School for Social Research.

The artist exhibited widely in the United States and Europe, with retrospectives at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Utah Museum of Art, Museo de arte modern in Mexico City, the Brooklyn Museum and the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island.
