Andy Warhol created his Love portfolio of 3 screenprints in 1983. Each print shows a nude couple embracing each other in a different position leading up to sexual intercourse. The images can be described as more passionate than pornographic, together presenting a narrative of love. This particular edition is a unique color combination. Warhol shows the full bodies of the man and woman in black, illuminated by a silver background. While the print depicts lust and sexuality, the overall meaning of Andy Warhol’s Love is in its title.
