The Truck complete portfolio by Andy Warhol is comprised of screenprints that were published with the Bundesverband des Deutschen Guterfernverkehrs (known in English as the Federal Association of Road Haulage Logistics and Disposal (BGL)) to commemorate the 20th World Congress of International Road Transportation Union (IRU). The annual IRU congress still continues to this day, working on economically and environmentally friendly solutions for mass transportation in the E.U. This IRU inspired Truck series showcases Warhol’s signature techniques of copied outlines and surreal colors, which bring life and interest to the everyday subject. The four prints all display the same image of a truck, each using different color blocking and outlining methods to emphasize the subject.
The complete Truck suite was printed in 1985 by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York. A portfolio of four screenprints on Lenox Museum Board there are 5 numbered in Roman numerals, signed and numbered in pencil, as well as 73 individual TP not in portfolios, signed in pencil on the lower right and unnumbered.
