This etching with aquatint is hand Signed in pencil at the lower right margin.
It also bears an inscription in pencil “e.a” at the lower left margin.
This is probably a rare trial or printer proof that was printed before the regular edition of 25 signed and numbered impressions on Japan and 50 signed and numbered impressions on Vellum paper.
Our impression has a background plate that seems to be lacking from the final edition.
The edition was printed by Jacques David and published by Jean Couturier, Paris in 1927.
