Laureana Toledo Biography

(Ixtepec, 1970)

Visual artist who mixes different media, such as photography, poetry, video, sculpture and music. In 1994 she founded the Programa Integral de Fotografía in the Centro de la Imagen (Mexico) and is tutor of the Jóvenes Creadores scholarhips of FONCA. In addition, she is co-founder and member of the SOMA Artists Council. She taught at the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana, she also coordinated the Tutoring Program at Ex-Teresa Arte Actual. In 2009 she was recognized with a residency at Gastworks, in South London. She has also received the Grants and Acquisitions award from the Cisneros-Fontanals Foundation.
Her individual exhibition include: the OMR Gallery, the Mexican Art Gallery, the Juan Martín Gallery, the Diego Rivera de Jalapa Gallery, the Contemporary Art Gallery (Mexico), Schloß Buchsenhaussen (Austria). She has participated in group exhibitions in Mexico and countries like Sweden, the United States, England, France, Denmark and Austria. Her work is part of important national and international collections such as The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Centro de la Imagen, Mexico. Institute of Graphic Arts of Oaxaca, Mexico. Arm & Hammer Museum, USA, and The Jumex Collection, Mexico.
