This large-scale landscape pictures a flowing river flanked by grassy banks. A small path runs parallel to the river, and behind it, a rocky bluff topped by shrubs and trees. Dramatic clouds sweep across the top of the composition, meeting the landscape along a faraway, flat horizon. The translucency of the ink is showcased by the artist's loose, painterly brush strokes and gestural highlights, which create rich layers of texture.
