Humid
By Katherine Bernhardt
Katherine Bernhardt is an American contemporary artist celebrated for her energetic, colorful paintings that mix pop culture imagery with bold, expressive brushwork. Born in 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri, she studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work often features everyday objects and brand symbols—such as bananas, cigarettes, cartoon characters, sneakers, and fast-food items—arranged in vibrant, chaotic compositions. Bernhardt combines elements of abstraction and pop art, creating paintings that feel playful, spontaneous, and visually intense. She has exhibited widely in major galleries and museums and is known for bringing humor and contemporary consumer culture into fine art.
