A single print from the original set of 12 lithographic prints produced initially under the title “Kannongyo Hanga-kan”.

A notable series of works by Munakata as they are the first to utilise reverse colouring. These prints were originally created as a set of 37 paintings based on the Kannon Sutra, a Buddhist scripture in which Kannon Bodhisattva takes on 33 forms to save sentient beings, fulfils their wishes and spread the teachings of all.

This print was published by Munakata’s long-term friend and business partner Yasukawa as part of their annual calendar series, of which only 350 were produced per year. Produced on a textural washi paper.
