Untitled from The New York Collection for Stockholm
By Donald Judd
Donald Judd (1928–1994) was a leading figure in Minimalist art, known for his precise, geometric sculptures and installations that emphasized clarity, repetition, and industrial materials. Rejecting traditional notions of illusion and representation, Judd focused on “specific objects” that existed in real space, often using materials like steel, aluminum, and Plexiglas. His work aimed to create a direct, unmediated visual experience, emphasizing form, space, and order. Judd was also a prolific writer and thinker, deeply influencing contemporary art theory and practice.
