Description

Raw-War (1971) represents Bruce Nauman’s incisive engagement with language, repetition, and the visual power of words. Executed as a lithograph in bold colors on Arches paper, the work exemplifies the artist’s interest in transforming text into a visual and conceptual experience, where the meaning of the words is intensified by their graphical presentation.

The composition conveys tension and immediacy, reflecting Nauman’s exploration of social commentary, perception, and the interplay between visual form and semantic content. Each impression in this limited edition of 100 captures the precision and intensity characteristic of his early printmaking practice. Co-published by Castelli Graphics and Nicholas Wilder Gallery, Raw-War remains a seminal example of Nauman’s innovative approach to lithography, merging conceptual rigor with bold visual impact. Framed and in very good condition, it highlights the enduring relevance of his experimental exploration of language and image.
