For many years now, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster has been engaged with the world of science fiction literature, offering utopian and dystopian interpretations of planetary landscapes in her work. Together with an ensemble composed of an architect, a painter, a musician, and one graphic artist, she recently designed a Martian parcours for the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Leipzig, which combines dream texts with sound and room installations.

One of the songs featured on the 12” vinyl EP of her band Exotourisme that comes with the artist’s edition for TEXTE ZUR KUNST, was penned by the philosopher Paul B. Preciado. Also included is a special artist’s sleeve print featuring the French and English lyrics laid on top of effecting photographs of Gonzalez-Foerster as Zhora, a character from the movie “Blade Runner,” which the artist re-created specifically for this record and the series of concerts organized to celebrate its release. The EP edition was created during the course of the Leipzig exhibition, “Martian Dreams Ensemble,” and takes up the show’s unique aesthetics of the extraterrestrial. On the cover is an image pulled from a diorama on view in Leipzig. The two songs that appear here, “Pangea Innamorata” and “The Year of Sweet Abacaxi,” provide a dreamy, otherworldly backdrop to Gonzalez-Foerster’s heterogeneous practice.

For Texte zur Kunst Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster produced a 12’’ Vinyl record plus printed sleeve and cover, all numbered and signed on sleeve.
