Martin Groß imbues this complex monochromatic woodcut with a map-like quality that stretches beyond the ambitions of literal representation. For a work’s starting point, Groß characteristically suggests the depiction of a physical plan. He then moves beyond to investigate ideas of utopia and ‘the landscape of the mind’.
