Lithograph with hand-colouring by this internationally-known Japanese artist who is 107 years old and still working in Tokyo. Note the delicate overlap of greys with gold hand-colouring. All her works are based on abstract but dynamic brush strokes originating from Japanese calligraphy. To Shinoda, the concept and utilisation of the untouched space on the paper is as important as the brush strokes and becomes one with the image. Her lithographs are stone-based and she uses traditional Japanese sumi ink for the brush strokes.
