Description:
Damien Hirst is one of the most provocative and influential figures in contemporary art. As a pioneering member of the Young British Artists (YBA), he gained prominence in the 1980s with works that were both shocking and conceptually rich. Recognized as Britain’s most notorious living artist, Hirst is best known for iconic works such as diamond-encrusted human skulls and animals suspended in formaldehyde tanks.
In 2008, he staged the groundbreaking auction Beautiful Inside My Head Forever, which achieved £111 million ($198 million). Hirst continues to explore a wide range of media—including sculpture, painting, printmaking, and large-scale installations—consistently pushing artistic boundaries. Among his most celebrated series are the Pill Cabinets, featuring meticulously arranged pills cast in metal, plaster, and resin. In 2017, Phillips New York exhibited The Void, 2000, the largest piece of this series ever shown in the United States.
