Description:
Damien Hirst is one of the most prominent and provocative figures in contemporary art. A leading member of the Young British Artists (YBA), he rose to fame in the 1980s with works that were both shocking and conceptually rich. Widely regarded as Britain’s most notorious living artist, he is best known for iconic creations such as diamond-encrusted human skulls and animals preserved in formaldehyde.

In 2008, Hirst staged the groundbreaking auction Beautiful Inside My Head Forever, which achieved £111 million ($198 million). Throughout his career, he has consistently pushed the boundaries of artistic practice, working across sculpture, painting, printmaking, and installations. Among his most celebrated works are the Pill Cabinets, featuring rows of meticulously crafted pills in metal, plaster, and resin. In 2017, Phillips New York presented The Void, 2000, the largest piece of this series ever exhibited in the United States.
