The Seven Planets and the Seven Stages of Life, a group of six plates from a set of seven plus title after Maerten de Vos
Engravings, 1581. From New Hollstein 1298-1305, lacking the title and plate 3 (Venus – Adolescence). The indication of the state is only found on the title plate, but impressions of this quality are likely to be from the De Jode edition of 1581 and not the 1645 second edition by C.J. Visscher.
Fine, crisp impressions with good margins all round. The paper evenly age-toned, Jupiter with a pale water stain on the bottom verso, Mercury with smudges on the verso, neither affecting the recto. Approximately 305 x 215mm.
