Raphael from The Archangels, H15-1

By Damien Hirst

Damien Hirst (born 1965) is a British contemporary artist known for his provocative works that explore themes of life, death, and mortality. He rose to prominence in the 1990s as a leading figure in the Young British Artists (YBAs) movement. Hirst is best known for his controversial pieces featuring preserved animals in formaldehyde, such as The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living. His work often blends scientific imagery with religious and philosophical symbolism, challenging viewers to confront the fragility and meaning of existence.
