This original lithograph in colours is hand signed in pencil by the artist “Marc Chagall” at the lower right margin.
It is also numbered in pencil from the deluxe edition of 90, at the lower left margin.
It was printed by Fernand Mourlot, Paris in 1957 and published in the same year.
The paper bears the Arches watermark in the lower centre margin.
Note: This subject was used for the cover of the book ‘Marc Chagall’, by Jacques Lassaigne published in 1957. The lithographs used for the book were published in a deluxe edition of only 90 impressions on large format Arches paper. The word ‘Isbas’ [Izbas] comes from the Russian word for a wooden hut, or log cabin.
