Additional Information: This original lithograph in colours is hand signed in pencil by the artist “Marc Chagall” at the lower right margin.
It is also numbered in pencil from the edition of 75, at the lower left corner. There wsd also an edition of 25 reserved for the artist, author and collaborators
This work was printed in 1967 by Mourlot, Paris and published by A.C. Mazo, Paris in the same year.
This subject is the ninth of twelve lithographs comprising the portfolio “Sur la Terre des Dieux” [In the Land of the Gods]. Reprenez muses, reprenez avec moi le chant bucolique. [Take up again, muses, take up again with me the bucolic song].

The Artist

Marc Chagall

Marc Chagall began using printmaking techniques when he was 35 years old. He produced a lot of lithographs, etchings, and woodcuts while residing in Berlin, Germany, during the time. The art dealer Vollard hired Chagall in 1923 to illustrate the Bible, La Fontaine’s Fables, and The Dead Souls by Gogol.
