For Yayoi Kusama, the pumpkin is akin to what the Campbell’s Soup can is to Warhol: an everyday comestible elevated to the status of fine art, through an artist’s own creative skill and vision. She has created sculptures and paintings, jewellery and clothing, as well as vast infinity rooms all inspired by the pumpkin motif for which she is now renowned for.
