Mark Alan Stamaty is an award winning American cartoonist and children’s writer and illustrator. He has created covers for the NY Times, the New Republic, the Washington Post Magazine and others..His cartoons have appeared in Slate, Esquire, New York Magazine, Newsweek and most   Famously the Village Voice. He produced a monthly comic strip in the New York Times Book Review called Boox from 2001-2004. He graduated from the Cooper Union in New York City.

Mark Alan Stamaty

Mark Alan Stamaty was born in Brooklyn. He grew up in a New Jersey beach town, the only child of two professional cartoonists who had met in art school. Mark attended Cooper Union, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1969. Stamaty has created covers for The New Yorker, the New Republic, the Washington Post Magazine, the New York Times Magazine, and others. His cartoons and illustrations have appeared in many publications, including Slate Magazine, Esquire, New York Magazine, Harper’s, Newsweek, Playboy, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times Magazine. In 2007, he received the Augustus Saint Gaudens Award for Career Achievement in Art from Cooper Union.
