The Artist

Sol LeWitt

Often referred to as the founder of minimal and conceptual art, Sol LeWitt was an American artist known for his wall drawings and ‘’structures’’- the preferred term he gave to his sculptures. From conventional exhibition pieces, to monumental outdoor instillations, he created wall drawings, pyramids, towers and geometric forms. LeWitt’s early three-dimensional work, in the 1960s, displayed squares arranged in various visual complexity.
