Henri Matisse’s Portrait d’une femme en face (Teeny) depicts Alexina “Teeny” Matisse, the wife of his son Pierre and later the wife of Marcel Duchamp. Originally created as a linocut in 1938, this version was published in the prestigious art review XXe Siècle No. 13 in 1959, edited by Gualtieri di San Lazzaro. Issued in a limited edition of approximately 1,500 copies, it is regarded as an original period Matisse print and an important example of the artist’s late graphic work.
