Copperplate photogravure from the artist’s original 35mm camera negative, hand-printed on Hahnemühle Copperplate paper in black ink in an edition of 12. This print is part of “Toward What Sun?”, Vol. II, the second group of ten photogravures by Van Keuren issued by Manneken Press. “Toward What Sun?”, Vol. I was issued in 2016.

The Artist

Philip Van Keuren

Born in Dallas, Texas in 1948. Lives and works in Dallas, TX.
B.F.A. (1974) and M.F.A. (1977), Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University. Currently serves as Professor of Art. Van Keuren attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program in New York in 1975 and is a 1978 and 2009 Fellow of The MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH.
Van Keuren completed a poetry residency at the Vermont Studio Center in March 2007. His book “Monody: Selected Poems 1978–2009” was published in conjunction with the exhibition “Philip Van Keuren: Forty Years of Works on Paper 1969–2009” at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Dallas, TX. As an artist he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions since 1971, including a one person show at the IPA Gallery/Islensk grafik, Reykjavík, Iceland, in 2011.
