“Wide Stripes” was made in while the artist was in residence at the Kala Art Institute. The image was made by brushing liquid tushe in two directions with a large sponge on a lithographic stone. It exemplifies Higgins’ interest in creating abstract, minimalist works made using repetition and patterns.
The image was printed on a thin kozo paper which was later mounted to a white cotton rag sheet. The image size is 16 x 16 inches and the sheet size is 20 x 20 inches.
