In Passing Through, KAWS’s signature “Companion” sits down and covers its eyes in embarrassment. KAWS, invented the pose for his first public sculpture, which debuted in Hong Kong’s Harbour City in 2010. Originally released through his OriginalFake clothing brand in April of 2013, KAWS released an Open Edition version of his much beloved Passing Through figure on September 5th, 2018. The Grey figure was released exclusively through KAWSONE. After significantly high traffic levels caused the website to crash, this figure sold out immediately. Not to be confused with the 2013 edition, this Open Edition is a smaller version that stands at 8 inches tall. KAWS’ Passing Through Statues have been displayed all over the world, including galleries in Hong Kong, Fort Worth, and Philadelphia.
