This chandelier was photographed in a private residence in Amsterdam. The high-angle vantage point and the cropping of the image imbue an everyday object with an unworldliness.

Philip Van Keuren’s images arise from everyday moments that reveal the world as both sublimely beautiful and ultimately unknowable. This print, made from the artist’s original 35mm negative using the historical photogravure technique, was hand-printed in black ink from a single etched copper plate. It belongs to a series of forty photogravures collectively titled “Toward What Sun?”
